Even if you have found a lower price, first check that it is for the same room and the same conditions. OTI shows price records collected for some hotels. Whether you can book at a recorded price right now must be rechecked with the seller.
1. Match the stay dates and number of guests
This guide uses Friday-night stay records in Da Nang as examples. The pilot's search basis is 2 adults, 0 children, 1 room, 1 night, USD, searched from South Korea. Check the hotels and dates currently published on the comparison page. Even prices looked up on the same day are not prices for the same trip if the check-in date differs.
We have not verified whether the searched number of guests was actually applied to the seller's rate. Do not extend these prices to costs for extra guests, children or extra beds, or to prices for other lengths of stay.
2. Distinguish the tax-included label from the final amount paid
We do not add an arbitrary tax rate to a tax-not-confirmed price to create a total. Even when a price is shown as tax-included, mandatory on-site fees and the final amount paid need to be checked separately.
OTI's maximum budget filter applies only to records confirmed as tax-included. If a tax-not-confirmed price is left out of the filter results, you cannot conclude that the room is over your budget.
3. Look at the room name and seller together
Even at the same hotel, the view, bed type, room size and rate plan can differ. Room names are the seller's original wording, and we do not treat differently named rooms as the same room. Whether member- or app-only rates apply is also not confirmed.
For example, you should not call the price difference between a breakfast-not-confirmed room and a breakfast-included room a discount. Check the room name and seller, then match the breakfast and cancellation conditions before comparing.
4. A hotel having a restaurant does not mean breakfast is included in the room rate
Breakfast included means the collected rate was labelled that way. How many guests breakfast covers and extra charges for children are not confirmed. Read a record that does not show breakfast as ‘not confirmed’, not as ‘confirmed not included’.

5. For free cancellation, check the deadline date, time and time zone
A free cancellation label reflects the conditions at the time of collection. Even if a deadline date is shown, the exact time, the time zone and whether you can cancel now are not confirmed. If no date is shown, the deadline date is also not confirmed.
Check with the seller the cancellation deadline, penalties after the deadline and whether prepayment is required. OTI's free cancellation filter does not guarantee that you can cancel for free now.
6. Check when the price was observed
The time you open the page and the time the price was collected are different. Check the observation time for each stay date, and if ‘update delayed’ is shown, keep in mind that the price may differ from the current price. Even recent records are not live inventory or bookable quotes.
Dates we did not collect, cases with no records matching the conditions, and lookup outages are different things. No price record does not mean sold out. If a lookup outage notice appears, the records cannot be checked.
7. Apply to real records
The ‘Judge using this hotel's records’ section on each hotel's comparison page shows only examples you can check on that page. Work through the three questions below in order.
- Is the difference between the two prices the cost of breakfast? A breakfast-not-confirmed row and a breakfast-included row may also differ in room name, seller and cancellation conditions. Do not calculate the difference as an extra breakfast cost or a discount.
- Can a free cancellation label alone tell you whether you can cancel? Even the same free cancellation label can come with different deadline dates. Apart from the date shown, check the exact deadline time, time zone and penalties with the seller.
- If there is not enough to compare, is it sold out? The tax, breakfast or cancellation conditions may not have been confirmed, or collection may have been delayed. A lack of records and actual room inventory are different information.
